His momma’s belly was so warm. The other mommas in the den had warm bellies, too, but none were quite as warm as Lyra’s, or as fluffy. Hers was more familiar, too. Kind-of. He had the faint memory of being scared of it at first, but it was his momma, how could he be scared of her? The feeling of her tongue rasping over his back made a weak purr rumble out of the little tom’s throat, and he blinked open his eyes as she moved, the large white shape he’d grown used to leaving. ”Momma!” The kitten squeaked, terrified to be left alone. Where were Remmy and Lyre? He couldn’t see them anywhere either? Little paws clawing worriedly at the nest, the patched kitten looked around the den in fear. Was he alone? He hoped not! But maybe it would be better, the big scary monsters that his momma called other cats were out there. He’d rather not be with them. Mama Basil and Mama Silly were okay, they were soft and nice and smelled warm. He hadn’t really met them yet, though, but they lived together. Papa’d said they nursed him at first, when Momma was still sick. She wasn’t sick anymore though, he didn’t think.
Achoo!
What was that? A strange smell, it was pretty but different. Whimpering a little, the small cat curled up into the mossy nest, trying to bury himself in all the green that smelled like him and his parents and litter mates. Where had momma gone? When would she be back? His wide brown eyes peered out at the world, wishing he had someone’s fur to hide in. Maybe he should crawl into the nest with Mama Basil or Mama Silly. But that was a long way away! Would his paws make it? They were still small, and there could be scary things between the nest. Mewling quietly, the little tom buried his nose in his paws, wishing his Momma would be back right now!

Clinging onto her sister like a snake, Lily lay with her nose deeply burried in May’s fluffy fur and a happy smile on her maw. She liked to snuggle up with May, not only because she was the fluffier one of her siblings, but because when May slept, she really slept. No amount of tugging or pushing seemed to wake her and with Lily’s very high demand for cuddles, that worked well.
A call for ‘mom’ woke the chubby kit up and at first she thought it had been one of her siblings but when no one seemed to stir in their sleep she realized it had to have been someone else. Her green eyes flickered between the other two nests that shared the den with them. There were so many in there! So many kits. She liked it, they were all her age and no one was scary or anything. The other moms were nice too because, well... they were moms, and moms are supposed to be nice, right?
The pale kit perked her ears as a tiny sneeze reached her and this time she saw who it came from. It was from one of the newer ones, the ones that had sometimes even been nursed by her own mom. She hadn’t really been able to play with them at that time though, they hadn’t even been able to see or anything. Maybe she could now? The one that had sneezed didn’t seem like he might want to play though... he looked kind of scared.
Rolling away from her sister, Lily got up on all four and stumbled carefully over to the other kit. He looked so different compared to her monochrome coloured siblings. Flopping down on her belly, she crawled slowly over to him the last stretch and stopped until she was barely an inch away from his face. ”Are you okay?” she whispered, her head resting on her paws and wide, curious eyes set on the kit.

It was cold! A small shiver shook the little cat’s body. He hadn’t realized how cold it would be without his momma’s warmth right there. Or his papa’s. Where was his papa? He came by sometimes it was nice. Lee liked his papa a lot, even if his brother didn’t. He could hear sounds of another cat walking and his wide eyes grew wider, tail curling up around him in an attempt to make himself as small as possible. Who was that? Why were they coming over here? He knew there were other cats in the den, but he didn’t know them. He didn’t see them ever, really. He never left his momma’s nest, except when Remmy made him leave to play with her and Lyre. Even then, he saw them but he never really played with them, Or talked to them. He didn’t know them, they were scary, and so when the sight of a pale face peeked up above  the moss nest, he let out a worried squeak and pulled himself closer. Who was this?
She didn’t stop! She just crawled closer. She didn’t yell, though, or speak loudly like Remmy and Lyre. That was nice. But he didn’t know her! She was one of the other kits. One of Momma Basils? She smelled like momma Basil. Another sneeze shook the small tom and he nodded carefully, digging his nose back down between his paws and trying to wrap his tail around his face so he could see the other kit without having her see him. That was how it worked, right?
”D-Do you know-w where my m-momma is-s?” He mewed really quietly, peering up at the other kitten. She was really soft colored, like Lyre and Momma. And she had Greeny eyes like Papa. Was she his sister? No she was one of Momma Basil’s kits! She couldn’t be his sister, but she was fluffy! Momma Basil wasn’t fluffy, Mama Silly wasn’t either.  He hadn’t seen the other Papa’s, not close at least. Was her papa fluffy? That might be it!

The sight of the other kit looking so scared and shivering made her sad, she wanted him to be happy! Why did he sneeze so much though? That wasn’t very good, was it? She didn’t really know about sickness and such but still, older cats seemed to look a bit worried when the kits sneezed and though she was not the most clever of the bunch, she could still somewhat connect the dots. She sneezed sometimes but it was usually when she got dust up in her nose from the ground or things like that. Perhaps that’s what he had, just a lot of dust in his nose. The thought almost made her giggle, but the frightened look kept it away.
“Umm... I think she left the den.” she hummed while raising her head from her paws to peer at the exit of the nursery. ”B-but-! I’m sure she’ll be back any minute!” she quickly added so to not upset the boy even more. She knew it could be a bit scary, she didn’t like when her mom left but as long as she had her siblings around her, Lily was usually fine.
She looked at his tail and the way he seemed to curl together. Maybe he was cold? Well duh, he had no one around him, of course he must be cold! No one to cuddle up with, it would make anyone shiver, she was certain of it! ”I can stay with you until she comes back if you want?” she asked before crawling closer and laying herself beside him, hoping he would see the good in her action.

Left the den? O-oh. No wonder she didn’t hear him. It made sense but he shivered again all the same. Had she gone to get Remmy and Lyre? Or maybe to see Papa. Or to see one of the shiny cats. Lights. Momma and Papa were Waters and Mama Basil was a Light. Light sounded so shiny. Mama Silly wasn’t a Light or a Water but he couldn’t remember what she was, and that made Lee frown. He was a good rememberer, but why couldn’t he remember that? He’d have to ask momma sometime soon. She’d be back. Momma always came back and she always said she would. He sometimes got a little worried about that, but not all the time. If Momma didn’t come back, maybe one of the other mommas would take care of him.
This kitten was nice though, and though his eyes were wide with fright he nodded a little at her offer. It wouldn’t be as scary if he wasn’t alone and she was a kitten like him maybe she was scared too. Probably not, he knew he was silly for being scared. She didn’t seem silly like him. And she was warm! Lee watched the girl-kitten as she crawled closer to him, and  hesitated for a moment before snuggling in close to her. She smelled like Mama Basil a little bit and he liked that a lot. She was bigger than him, too, but everyone was bigger than him and she wasn’t as big as Momma or Papa so she wasn’t as scary. ”T-thanks, m-miss.” He squeaked quietly, still shyly peering through his tail.

As soon as he got closer she let a feeble purr emit from her chest, not quite the same comforting and strong purr of an adult but a purr nevertheless. She loved to lay ontop of her dad’s belly and listen to his purr, low and soothing and it always made her sleepy, not to mention feeling completely safe. She wished he could always be there with them but he had important things to do, he was an important cat, just like her mom. She didn’t really know how important or why, not yet, and she didn’t really care either. Either way, her dad always said he visited as often as he could and she was happy with that.
As he thanked her, she couldn’t help but giggle. ”I’m not Miss! My name is Lily.” The girl nuzzled her nose into his cheek. She liked his appearance. It was so different compared to those cat’s she had seen. Everyone had such simple or dull colours but this kit’s fur was so vibrant! Like some of the flowers she had seen! She wondered if he liked flowers... ”You look so different. Everyone in here either look like the ground or the dark! But not you,” she giggled once again. ”I like it.”

A rumbly noise! Lee’s eyes grew even wider as the sound came from the kitten he was next to. Momma made that noise sometimes. Papa too.  It meant safe and warm. He relaxed a little, still staring at the other kitten, a small squeak parting his jaws as her nose made contact with his face. Oh! Oh. Concentrating, he tried to make the rumbly noise too, and found it was a lot easier than he’d thought! The purr made him smile, proud for a moment of his own accomplishment before he went back to hiding his face in his tail.  ”M-miss Lee-lee.” He tried to repeat her name, finding it hard to roll off his tongue for some reason. It didn’t sound right. ”L-l-lileee” That was better.  Smiling cautiously up again at the older cat, he blinked. ”I’m L-Lee.” Papa had given him and Remmy and Lyre their names. He liked his name. He loved his papa, too.
Different? How did he look different? A small frown wrinkled his brow as he tried to remember. Remembering was important. Remmy-ember. He giggled a little at that. ”R-Remm-mee doesn’t l-look like the g-g-ground!” He stuttered out, thinking. No she was all swirls and spots, kinda like Papa. ”L-Lyre too.”Lyre looked like Momma. His name sounded like hers, too. He couldn’t really remember Momma’s name, only that it sounded like Lyre’s. Lyrea or something. He frowned.

The way the other cat tried to pronounce her name made her smile grew wider and by the end she let out a childish ‘squee’ as she found it to be cute, curling up a bit closer to him at the same time. Lee? They had very similar names! Lily and Lee. She liked his name, it sounded... happy.
The kit shook her head. ”I didn’t mean everyone! Though I did say everyone, didn’t I? I’m sorry.” She knew not everyone in there looked the way she had described, but there were still a lot of them! All her siblings had really dark colours, like her mom, and then the other litter that had been with them from the start, they were lighter! Beige and grey, one of them even had a bit orange in its fur like Lee did, and she—The kit glanced back to peer at own fur. Lighter and beige, not like her own siblings at all. There was not hint of her mother in her pelt. Why didn’t she have any black on her like Caydin and May and Parsley did? Even her older siblings had it! The smile she had on her maw slowly started to fade away and was soon replaced with a sad frown. She lay her head down on her paws, staring down at the moss with a gloomy face. She looked more like her father but... even he had a darker colour.

She was warm, that was really nice. His nest didn’t feel as empty anymore! Still, though, the kitten peered at this denmate with caution. ”Oh.” He mewed slowly, blinking. He hadn’t seen many of the other kits, not really. He’d smelled them, and briefly glimpsed them when playing with his siblings. The though to meeting them scared the little tom, though, but not nearly as much as the thought of meeting those who lived outside of the nursery!
It was easy to see when Lily started getting sad, and immediately, Lee’s posture changed. He uncurled around his small, runt of a form, and snuggled deeper into the she-kitten’s fur. ”M-miss Lilee? What-t’s w-wrong?” She seems sad! He didn’t like it when cats were sad. Maybe he was always scared, but cats should be happy! She was really brave, too, to have crawled all the way to his nest, Lee didn’t want her to be sad! Hesitantly the patched tom parted his jaws and gave her shoulder a lick. Was there something wrong with the way every cat looked? Maybe cats were supposed to have five paws! That was silly, and Momma and Papa and Remmy and Lyre had four paws, so why would cats be supposed to have five?Maybe it was something to do with fluffiness? Or her eyes! He couldn’t tell, but the want to make Lily happy again made Lee nuzzle into her fur, concern clouding his wide brown eyes.

Lily closed her eyes tight to keep the tears away. ”I don’t look like my mom at all...” she mumbled with a sad tone. She loved her mom; she loved her whole family so much that sometimes she thought she would burst because of all the love! But she didn’t understand why she looked so different. It made her wonder, though most of all it made her sad.
Feeling Lee snuggle closer to her and give her a lick made her a little happy but it still couldn’t truly brighten her up. He looked like his father, didn’t he? A bit like his mom too, she knew she was white, like the opposite of her own.
The kitten let out a sob as she couldn’t keep her feelings down. ”What- what if she isn’t my real mom?” Lily cried out in hushed voice, not wanting to let anyone else in there hear her words. She didn’t want to ask her mom directly because she thought it would make her sad and she didn’t want to make her sad. The kitten had still thought about it, even though she didn’t want to, she just couldn’t help it. What if? It had started as a little thing but soon her mind had blown it up to something way bigger than it probably was. She let out another sob while keeping her paws over her muzzle in an attempt to muffle the sound.

Oh no, she was really sad! It started to make Lee sad too, his wide eyes getting a little watery as he licked her fur. She had a lot of that! ”Do you l-look like your Papa?” He mewed quietly, thinking. Words. He needed words to make her feel better, but Lee didn’t really like to talk a lot. He had to find just the right words! Momma was good at finding them, and she said Papa was too. If they could, he could, right? They were his momma and papa. He didn’t look very much like Lyra, but he had dark paws like she did and there was white on him and she was very white! He looked like Papa though, he had papa’s colors.
Not her real mom. Lee’s eyes grew wider still at that! Maybe then she was his sister! They’d been nursing together when Momma was sick, after all. ”T-then she loves you m-more!” He mewed, brain thinking quick. ”If she isn’t-t your r-real momma, then she p-picked you b-because she w-w-wanted you!” That would be good right? Lee frowned. He looked like his Momma and Papa. Did that mean they didn’t want him or love him? No! Momma loved him, she told him a lot. She and to want him, right? ”D-do you look like your- your -your Papa?”

Loves me more? The shecat let out a soft sob as she blinked, peering at Lee behind her paws with slightly confused eyes. She tried to think, tried to understand what his words meant. Was... was that true? If her mom wasn’t her real mom, did that mean she loved her more in that case? Lily frowned as her mind was suddenly cluttered with thoughts, ‘ifs and buts’, what everything meant if it was a certain way. She had a hard time to sift through it all to get some kind of direction of it. What she did know though, was that Lee’s words were meant to make her feel better. That one thought made her happy and she lifted her head up and burrowed it into Lee’s fur, a quiet sob slipping out on the way.
”Mm... yes,” she mumbled to his question. ”But- Well... I’m still lighter than dad.” She turned her head, though still having it rest against Lee, to stare out in the open air. It was so hard to put her thoughts into words, she couldn’t tell why it upset her so, the thought of her mom not being her real mom and looking different compared to her siblings. She was still loved, right? So it shouldn’t matter! But for some reason it did and she wish she could tell why.

Blinking back at the older kit,Lee gave a quiet, rumbly purr as she buried her nose into his fur. He smiled tentatively at her words, tail flicking a little bit as he thought. ”That j-just makes you sp-sp-specialer!” He decreed, twisting a little so he could touch his nose to her fur. He wasn’t very good with his words yet, but being specialer was a good thing, he seemed. Was she really lighter than her papa? Lyre and Remmy were lighter than his papa, but his Momma was really light, too. Maybe they could ask! Surely the mamas and papas would know, right? And they wouldn’t tell the not-truth either, right? Lee didn’t think they would.
Maybe he should distract her somehow! She’d been nice enough to come over and cuddle with him in his nest when his momma disappeared. He liked that a lot. He wasn’t scared of her now, either! Maybe if she didn’t think about not looking like her momma, she wouldn’t be so sad? The colorful tom bent over and picked up a roundy piece of moss, blinking at the other kitten with a shy look on his face. ”D-Do you wanna p-p-play, Lilee?” He offered, brown eyes large and round.

Her gaze returned to Lee as he spoke. He had talked a bit weird this whole time but she wasn’t really bothered by it, she did it too after all, whenever she got scared, so she understood. Specialer? A smile finally appeared on her face and the kit giggled softly. He was really nice! He didn’t seem bothered by her being close either.
Curling one paw over his neck, Lily clung on tight, squishing their cheeks together in a hug. ”Thank you Lee~” she purred. The sad feelings and thoughts started to disappear and she could feel it, she felt happy again.
At his offer to play, her eyes widen and excitement seemed to almost glow in them. Yes, she loved to play! Bouncing up on all four, the girl nodded vigorously as an answer. ”Play! Yes! Let’s play!” she chirped. ”What should we play?” Her gaze fell curiously upon the moss at his paws. She wondered what kind of games he knew; maybe he would show her something new!

At her giggle, a more confident grin stretched out on the golden-brown and white tom’s face, and his purr grew louder as she wrapped her paw around his neck. ”No P-problem!” He stutters, tail curling up in happiness now that he could see that she was happier again. Making cats feel happy was his favoritest thing to do! Especially when they were cats as nice as Lily. He’d try to be nice and make mean cats happy, too, but it would be much, much scarier, and Lee wasn’t sure he’d be not scared when talking to them.
She seemed excited to play, too! He got to his paws as she bounced up and shook a little, trying to disguise the shaking of his legs as just shaking his fur out. ”M-Mossball?” He offered, blinking down at the small  patch of the green stuff he’d collected out of the nest. Mossball was fun, he though. It was better than tackling, that was for sure! Tackling wasn’t fun, especially when the other kittens tried to bite! Lee didn’t like being bitten. It hurt!

Lily spun around on the spot and laughed. ”Sure!” She liked all kinds of games, even a friendly tussle with her siblings was fun sometimes, though it probably wasn’t her favourite activity. Did she have a favourite though? Story telling, exploring, tag... there was so much! Eagerly the kit sprang out from the nest due to the energy that suddenly coursed through her. She hadn’t thought that going to check on Lee would have been such a great idea! Not only was he kind and had settled her sad thoughts, but he also wanted to play. In her happiness she didn’t pay too much attention to her legs and, while running, soon felt herself lose control. Wobbling around in weird and slightly awkward movements, paws almost tripping over each other, Lily put all her focus to slow down and regain her balance.
Once she finally found herself standing steady on the ground (taking a second or two to make sure she really wouldn’t fall), she looked over to Lee with a smile. ”Come on then!”

She seemed eager to play! That made Lee’s tail curl happily, a grin stretching across his maw. Lily wasn’t scary at all! Picking up the moss in his teeth, the kitten carefully climbed out of the nest after the paler one, his brown eyes bright and eager. Play! He loved to play. Mostly he played with Momma’s tail or with Remmy and Lyre. I bet Lily knows all kinds of games! Momma had said he was the last kitten of the last litter born, which meant everyone in the den was older. So Lily was older! Lee was sure that meant she knew of more games to play than he did. ”C-Coming!” He squeaked, shaky legs following her slowly.  Lily was wobbly too! That made him feel better. Catching up with with the green-eyed kitten, Lee padded a few steps further and sat down dropping the ball of moss on the floor and sitting back so that his front paws didn’t touch the ground. Slowly unseating the claws on his white-toed paw, the pointed-and-patched kit caught the moss in his claws and attempted to toss it to the she-kit. ”C-catch!”

Seeing the ball flying towards her, Lily began moving around on the spot with eyes set on the mossball. Unable to predict where it would land, she kept running from side to side as if she couldn’t decide on which direction to go. It probably looked a bit funny from another cat’s perspective. The ball ended up flying past her though, but the girl simply took charge after it with a joyful squeal. She dribbled with it between her paws as it bounced down on the ground, trying to stop it from moving to catch it. Sure enough, Lily soon had her teeth clutched in the moss and proudly trotted back to where she had started. ”Your turn!” she giggled, sitting back just like Lee had done to toss the ball. Though during her first try she forgot to retract her claws and instead basically just slammed the mossball down in the ground infront of her. She blinked a bit surprised at it before an abrupt and loud giggle slippt out of her. She was not really the best kit at physical activites, it never stopped her though. Sometimes it could get her a bit down but usually she just kept trying. The second time she tried to throw the ball it worked and it flew in a nice arch in Lee’s direction.

A small, squeaking giggle echoed out of the tom as he watched the light-furred kitten run back and forth before chasing after the clump of moss. This was how he liked to see cats! All happy and giggly, not sad! ”G-good catch!” He stuttered encouragingly as she trotted back over, rising to his own shaky legs so he could get ready to bounce after the ball. Wow, this was going to be so much fun! A peal of laughter echoed out of his chest as the ball of moss slammed into the ground, and his bright eyes grew  more confident as the larger kitten tossed the ball again.
He bounded after it eagerly, running as fast as his still unsteady legs could carry him and leaping on it as it drew closer to the ground, a self-satisfied grin sprawling across his now-dusty face as he picked it up and padded quietly back over to where he’d been standing before, resuming his bunny like-position. Chasing the moss was a lot of fun! He hadn’t played very many games before, Remmy liked to play play-pretend, and tried to tackle him like a fox! He didn’t like that very much. This was wayyyy better, and he’d only played it once before, he thought! It was more fun with Lily, though! ”C-Catch!” He called again, Flinging the moss with his teeth this time. Would that make it go farther? He sort-of hoped so!

With a smile of glee, Lily’s happiness seemed to almost beam from her as her green eyes followed the bright coloured kit, giggling a little as she noticed his dusty face when he returned. She was so glad she had gone over to Lee! Making new friends was fun and the more friends you got, the more fun you’ll have. That made sense, right? She thought so at least. Either way, she wanted to be friends with Lee forever!
She watched the ball fly over her head again and, like before, chased after it. Did it go longer this time? It sure seemed to make a bigger bounce at least, making the kit run longer. Perhaps her previous success made her a bit too confident in her balance or perhaps she got caught on a root, but something went wrong. The speed made her unable to halt or get control over legs; instead they wobbled around before she finally tripped head-first. She didn’t just fall over though, no, the kit made some kind of bend with her head and ended up continue going forward, rolling instead of running. One... two times she rolled before she finally flopped over on her back, paws flailing in the air and eyes spinning, her head trying to understanding what had just happened.

Lee watched his newfound friend run after the ball of moss, a silly grin on his face, though it quickly slipped into a more o-shape and then he went wide eyed with worry as Lily tumbled forwards, her head rolling too! Getting his unsteady legs together under him he ran forwards, paws making him stumble slightly but not enough to make him fall over completely. ”L-Lilee!” He mewed loudly, wordily as he saw her legs waving around in the air. Was she okay? What was wrong? What had she done? It looked all roly-poly! ”L-lilee! Are y-you okay-ay?” He called loudly as he finally reached her, crouching down on the ground next to her to avoid getting his by the flailing paws.  He didn’t know what had happened or what to do! Lee didn’t see any of the icky red stuff that hat caused him so much pain when he tore a claw - Blood, momma had called it - so she couldn’t be hurt bad, right?  Pressing up against her on the instinct to help her calm down, the fox-colored kitten stared at the beige-tinged one with wide brown eyes. He didn’t want her to be hurt or scared! That was worse than being sad!

Was the world spinning? Sure seemed like it! Lily blinked a few times to clear the dizziness she was feeling before lowering the paws she had kept in the air. She was still in a little shock, she hadn’t been scared or anything, it all had just... surprised her. Lee’s voice and presence brought her back eventually and she craned her head to look at him. He was worried? Oh! Had her weird tumble looked bad perhaps? With a laughter she threw herself at him, wrapping her paws around his neck, burrowing her nose into his fur and dragging him down with her as she flopped down on the ground again. ”I’m fine!” she laughed. ”That was... fun! I don’t know what I did! What did I do? The world kept moving around even when I was still!” Her head still felt a bit light, it was such an odd feeling. Sometimes she got the same kind of feeling when she tried to chase things, but it had never been this strong!

The sudden motion of her paws wrapping around his neck scared Lee, but when he realized it wasn’t anything bad he instantly camped down, a small purr rumbling out of his throat as he snuggled up beside the larger kitten. She was okay! That was better than good! Plopping down beside his friend, he snuggled up against her. ”G-good.” He mewed weakly, purr audible in his voice. Fun? His tri-colored head tilted a little as he listened to her words. What had she done? He squinted his gaze a little, remembering. ”You r-r-r-rolled!” He decided, thinking of the word that sounded roundy. ”Like the m-mossball!” Stretching forward one of his paws, the little tom reached out the the green clump and gave it a sharp prod, sending it rolling forwards slowly until it fell apart and stopped. That wasn’t nice of it! He wanted to play with it some more. Maybe they could fix it. Like the world had been spinning? Lee’s eyes went wide at that. He’d felt that before! when momma had picked him up once, it made his tummy go all funny. Poking his nose at her belly fur, he blinked over at Lily curiously. ”Is y-your tummy ok-kay?”

Lily purred along with him as he snuggled up with her, their tiny sounds echoing together, and kept a wide smile on her maw. She blinked at his words. ”I rolled? Really?!” The thought made her giggle. Rolling like a mossball was fun, albeit a bit dizzy at the end! Maybe she should try it again sometime, she was certain her sisters would like it, Parsley was different question though.
Rolling onto her back, she peered down at her chubby belly at Lee’s question, her cheeks squishing up little because of her fur and plump figure. ”Mmmm... I think so?” The kit rolled back, lying on her stomach and watch the bright coloured tom with a bit more steady eyes, as if she was truly looking at him now. ”Hey Lee,” she began, inclining her head to the side with a sweet smile. ”We are friends now, right?”

She was really soft, Lee noticed! Even her kit-fur was fluffier and softer than his, and he was younger! Wasn’t he supposed to have the fluffier fur? Nodding seriously at her question, the tom gave a small giggle. It had been kinda funny, he realized! If he hadn’t been so scared that Lily was hurt, maybe he would have even laughed!
If she was okay - really okay - then Lee decided it was all good. She didn’t smell like a sick-kit, and she wasn’t really acting funny, he didn’t think. So good seemed good! Stretching his head out on his dark-pointed paws, the kitten blinked at his denmate ears twitching up at the question. Were they friends now? He thought about the question with a serious glint in his eye. Lee didn’t really know what made a cat a friend or not, he realized. He wanted to be Lily’s friend though. Slight frown turning into a wide smile, he nodded. ”I th-think so!”

The pale kit’s eyes lit up in delight when she got his answer, an answer she very much liked! ”Great!” she chirped happily and gave the young tom a lick on his cheek. ”Let’s stay friends forever.”
Forever, it was an odd word she didn’t full understand yet. It meant that things never stopped, in her mind. It went on and on and never went away! She knew the basic of it, the simple definition. The true meaning though, the concept of something truly being forever and everything else one should know about it was something she would have to learn as she grew. That most things never last forever is a thought that have yet to even appear in her mind.
The shecat stretched her body as she involuntary let out a big yawn before pressing her paws against her face. Having fun could sure make one tried! ”Mmmm,” she mumbled behind furry paws. ”I think I’m sleepy.

Lee purred louder at her word, his tri-colored head bobbing up and down in eager agreement. He didn’t know how long forever was, but he knew it was longer than a long time! Snuggling closer to the other kitten, his own jaws parted slightly in a yawn. He hadn’t realized he was tired! Maybe it was because Lily mentioned being sleepy, too. Now that he thought about it, he really was tired! Giggling sleepily as he noticed her paws on her face, Lee nudged the paler-furred kitten. ”D-do you want-t to nap-p?” He mewed slowly, brown eyes flickering back over to his empty nest. ”Sleeping on th-the floor will-l make you d-dirty!” Momma didn’t like it when he was dirty. She said he always had to be clean! Remmy and Lyre too. Remmy didn’t like being cleaned though, not at all! Lee didn’t mind it usually, but sometimes it was a little bothersome. Slowly rising to his shaky legs, the kitten stretched and blinked at Lily, his head tilted towards the empty green nest.

With a lazy looking smile she nodded to Lee. A nap, yes, a nap would be great. She had been sleeping before after all, then Lee had made noises and it woke her up, so maybe she hadn’t got enough sleep to really be up and playing right now. He seemed to be sleepy too! So at least she wasn’t alone. The she-cat began giggling for some unknown reason as she rose up on four wobbly legs, a giggle she tried to stop or at least keep hushed but it appeared to be very hard to stop for the moment. Her head was a little dizzy again now that she was standing up, maybe that was the reason or perhaps it was just because she was suddenly so tried. ”Let’s sleep in your nest,” she whispered between the giggles. His nest was closer so that was better, why was she whispering though? She hadn’t been whispering before. Adults whispered when kits were sleeping, she knew that. Yes, that’s why she was whispering, because they were about to take a nap. They weren’t asleep yet though?
Confused by her thoughts, Lily blinked unfocused out in the air for a short moment before another giggle slipped out of her and she scuttled over to the nest. ”Come!”

The little tom nodded. He’d much rather sleep in his own nest, empty as it was, than curled up with some strange cats! Maybe they hadn’t been so strange once, maybe he had, in fact, nursed with a  few of them when he was still a few days old, but he didn’t remember that! He would much rather be alone in his own nest, and even more so if Lily was there! He didn’t know where his Momma had gone or when she’d be back, but sleep was never a bad thing, right? Trotting after the paler-furred kitten, he smiled a little, heavy-lidded eyes drooping slightly. She was all giggly! He didn’t know what was funny but decided maybe he would when he was less Sleepy.
Clambering up into the nest took more effort, and he almost wanted to give up and just curl up on the ground in front of it! Clilmbing into it, the kitten drowsily made his way over to the middle, and plopped down where they had been curled up earlier, his jaws parting in yet another yawn as he lay his head on the soft moss. It really was cold, alone! Faintly, the kit wondered where his siblings were, but he was too sleepy to worry about it now!

She ended up giggling more as she watched Lee tiredly getting back into the nest and when she struggled to get over herself. Lily didn’t really mind where she slept, she could probably sleep anywhere, what was important was having someone close to her. She needed someone to snuggle up with, warm and safe and she would be all good. The kit stumbled after the other and yawned when she saw him yawning. That was always so contagious! She wondered why for a moment but the tiredness in her made the thought quickly fly away.
Like Lee, she lay down but with part of her body over him and nibbled softly on his ear, not really biting, before finally flopping down on the ground beside him. Paws curling around the younger kit, she nuzzled herself close to him, face burrowed into his fur and a light purr rumbling in her chest. ”You’re warm,” she mumbled, words muffled by the fur.

Lee giggled as he felt her fluffy form stretch over him, ear flicking slightly as she nibbled on it. ”Y-you are too!” He mewed with a sleepy enthusiasm, curling into the pale-furred kit and nuzzling his face into her neck fur. Her purr was louder than it had been before! Because he was so close to her, the kit decided, that was why. The rumble in his throat grew loud, too, if slow from the sleepiness that seemed to weigh down each of his limbs. Warm and comfortable, with someone to snuggle with! He liked this, he liked it very much. It was the best way to fall asleep.
His jaws parted an another yawn before the fox-colored kit snuggled himself closer into Lily’s larger form and slowly closed his eyes completely. It was much easier to sleep in a nice warm snuggle than it was alone in the coldness of an empty nest!

He was actually curling up with her, she really liked that! Someone that not only let her give them her affectionate hugs but actually gave an equal amount back. Hopefully her mom wouldn’t be worried when she wouldn’t see Lily in her nest though, but adults were always good at finding them when they ran off and especially her mom! She always seemed to find Lily when she tried to hide, so she would probably easily find her. It was not like she was far away either! She was light too, her fur colour, not dark like her siblings. No, no! Not think about that, it would just make her sad again. Think about Lee instead!
With one big final yawn, she relaxed and felt the dream world pulling her in. A low mumble that sounded something like friend escaped her mouth before the kit finally fell asleep.
